Who We Are
Psychiatric Disability Organisation is a community based organisation that assists the people with mental illnesses to build better lives through access to proper diagnosis and treatment, social integration, skills development, and productive representation in all aspects of life.
PDO was founded by individuals that have faced the real challenges of living with mental illness and psychotherapists, both driven by a passion to make a difference in the lives of kids and adults, most of whom are not even aware of that they have a psychiatric disability.
PDO founders (who work as volunteers) have had successful professional careers in banking, training, psychological counseling, entrepreneurship and leadership. Our team has expertise in managements and administration of non-profits, psychotherapy, social work, financial management, organizational development, grassroots mobilization, awareness raising, lobbying and advocacy.
This team was brought together by one purpose – to touch the lives of people affected by mental ill health by making their lives more comfortable, productive and fulfilling, because we are survivors or people affected by psychiatric conditions and understand how traumatic life can be when one suffers mental ill health in our ignorant and hostile society.
Goal and Objective
Our main goal is to be a voice for the needs and rights of people with psychiatric conditions and a catalyst for improved lives and life chances of people with these disabilities.
